Pollination Services
Pollination services are where we place our honeybee colonies on your property, so the bees pollinate the crops, orchards, gardens, or small farms. Below are some but not all of the types of local situations.
Small Farms & Market Gardens - These farms dramatically increase yield with hives onsite:
-
Strawberries
-
Blueberries
-
Pumpkins
-
Cucumbers
-
Zucchini & squash
-
Melons
-
Peppers
-
Tomatoes
-
Sweet corn
-
Specialty greens (bolting plants attract bees)
Orchards - Orchards often need bees for 2–4 weeks during bloom:
-
Apples
-
Pears
-
Peaches
-
Cherries
-
Plums
-
Apricots
Pumpkin Patches / Agritourism Farms - Illinois is one of the top pumpkin-producing states in the country. Pumpkins require pollination — yields fall without bees:
-
Pumpkins
-
Gourds
-
Squash
-
Sunflowers
-
Decorative corn (bees still visit tassels)
Large Home Gardens / Homesteads:
-
Better squash & cucumber yields
-
Pollination for small orchards
-
A fun, educational “bee experience”
Prairie and Habitat Projects - Some conservation groups and private owners like to “seed” prairie with bees to help establish wildflowers.
